Gist email verification options
If you’re using mailfloss for Gist email verification, you have five options at your disposal.
Before explaining the five options, make sure you have properly connected Gist to mailfloss. You only need to do this once and from then on mailfloss will be able to automatically perform email verification for the connected Gist account.
Here’s a screenshot of the five options you have with Gist email validation:
The first option “Manually decide action on invalid emails” will display emails deemed invalid so you can decide an action on them, like so:
With manual mode set, you can later decide to update tags, unsubscribe, delete, ignore, or report the status as incorrect for all contacts mailfloss determined as invalid.
The second option “Unsubscribe invalid emails” will unsubscribe the contact from Gist and remove the contact from the lists it belongs to. This action is irreversible. Under the Subscription preferences of the contact in Gist, you’ll see the "Unsubscribed from all emails" switch set on.
The third option “Auto-delete invalid emails” is also irreversible. Once deleted, the contact is gone for good and you won’t find it inside of Gist anymore.
The fourth option is a little more advanced and intended for advanced users. It will update tags inside of Gist, which you can use to sync with your other databases and CRMs or do whatever you please with them. This action is also irreversible.
For finding this information, click on the subscriber and go to the "Details" section on the left side of your screen. You'll need to click on "Show more" and scroll down to the bottom part of the section.
There you will find the validation result, status, and reason.

The final option is “do nothing”. Basically, all this option does is send you an email report of the latest floss session, but doesn’t actually change anything inside of Gist or mailfloss. This is most like boring, traditional email validation services, but is useful if you just want a report of the email verification statuses determined by mailfloss for the connected Gist account and nothing more.
