Is Decay Protection overconsuming credits?

1min

At mailfloss, we understand the importance of efficient email verification, especially when it comes to managing contacts within your ESP account. Our Decay Protection feature is designed to streamline this process by automatically verifying email addresses monthly (or with a customized period) across your entire ESP account, preventing your lists from going stale.

However, some ESPs lack the functionality to filter out email addresses that have been previously suppressed from email marketing efforts. This can result in unnecessary consumption of verification credits and potential overuse.

To address this issue, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Disable Global Decay Protection: Turn off the main Decay Protection switch to halt the global import of contacts for your account.
  2. Create Segregated Lists: Generate a separate list containing only the contacts currently being targeted for email campaigns. If you already have such lists, proceed to the next step.
  3. Activate Targeted Decay Protection: Enable Decay Protection specifically for the segregated lists. This ensures that only the contacts within these lists undergo the verification process, thereby preventing credit overuse on suppressed contacts. You can find a guide for this process here.

By implementing these steps, you can effectively optimize Decay Protection for your ESP account, ensuring that your verification credits are utilized efficiently and minimizing unnecessary resource consumption.
